15th June 1997 Wide range of musical fare at the first BBCM workshop |

The BBCM held its first workshop for students and their families on Sunday 15th June, 1997 at Fitzjohn's Primary School in Hampstead. It was a most enjoyable occasion with a wide range of musical fare from Agnes' youngest pupils of 4 and 5 right through to members of her adult musicianship class. Many of the students took the opportunity to play and sing in ensembles with family and/or friends. A memorable contribution came from the Isogawa family of mother, father and three children who serenaded us with Japanese songs as a gesture of farewell before their return to Japan. The audience cheered for the finale, a rousing version of the theme from Match of the Day performed on violins and wind instruments by a group of children and parents.
In addition to the musical offerings, everyone brought masses of food and drink. A great deal of work went on behind the scenes to organise the event: arranging chairs and music stands, tuning instruments, as well as setting up tables outside and preparing food. Thanks to everyone for providing such a rewarding musical afternoon in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
More workshops, please, Agnes!
