Reviews of BBCM Concerts, Workshops and Courses

BBCM's 1997 Steiner Theatre concert (16th March) was remarkable for the range and variety of musical experience presented. There was a role both for small children just beginning to learn the delights of music and for musicians, young and adult, of considerable accomplishment, and all inbetween. The large and enthusiastic audience played its part, too! Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, and Britten were well represented, as well as the inspiration of Hungarian folksong in the work of Bartok and Kodaly.

Words of praise for our Steiner Theatre Concert:

"Congratulations on the concert last week. It was very satisfying to see even the very young ones highly motivated and enjoying what they were doing. For me the highlight was the group of Bartok songs - the pitching was very fine indeed."
(David Perks, cellist, English National Opera)

"It was exciting and your whole programme strikes me as very inspired. The problem is really the task of directing these mildly chaotic crowds of young people to sing together and move together. But it was lovely. With best wishes for your important work....."
(Reinhard Strohm, Heather Professor of Music, University of Oxford)
